How it Happened
UC couldn't come up with a defensive answer for the hot-shooting Falcons from Notre Dame College, as the hosts torched the nets for 41 first half points on 57% shooting from the field to carry a 15-point, 41-26, lead over Charleston going to halftime. The Golden Eagles, on the other hand, struggled from the field to shoot just 37% while committing 12 first half turnovers that lead to 20 Falcon points through the first 20 minutes.
Things didn't get any easier for Charleston in the second half, falling behind by as many as 22 points late in the contest before eventually dropping the 77-57 decision to the Falcons. One of the bright spots for the Golden Eagles was their bench play, outscoring Notre Dame 38 to 21 over the course of the contest. Leading the way for Charleston's bench was senior guard Marissa Koob, chipping in 13 points on 5-for-5 shooting. Junior forward Michelle Noel also sparked the Golden Eagle bench, posting a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds in 28 minutes.
Kim Cook paced the Falcons with 19 points, including five makes from behind the arc, to go along with seven rebounds.
