CHARLESTON, WV -- The University of Charleston Women's Basketball Team (9-14, 8-9 MEC) top West Virginia Wesleyan College (6-14, 6-11 MEC) 56-43 Wednesday night.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Charleston put points on the board first with a jumper from Darian Apperson at the 7:34 minute mark. The scoring slowed down through the middle of the quarter until a steal by Freshman Octavia Loll started a 7-0 run by the golden eagles. Charleston ended the quarter leading West Virginia Wesleyan 11-4.
- Madison Jones opened up the second period with a triple 7 seconds into the quarter. Loll would knock down 2 free throws to increase the golden eagle lead to 12. Following a media timeout at 4:11 the bobcats would go on a 9-0 run to bring the Charleston lead to only 3 points. The teams entered the locker room with Charleston up 23-20 on West Virginia Wesleyan.
- Tara Goldman of West Virginia Wesleyan started off the scoring in the second half with a three-point play to tie the game a 23. Charleston took the 25-23 lead on the next possession and would maintain their lead to end the third quarter ahead 39-37.
- The bobcats would score first again to start the final period tying the game up at 39. Following a pair of free throws by Darian Apperson the golden eagles would go on a 8-0 run bringing the score to 47-39 UC. A three ball by Jordyn Peck at 3:44 put Charleston up by 9. The golden eagles rode the lead to a 56-43 victory.
CHARLESTON INDIVIDUAL LEADERS
- Guard Jordyn Peck led the golden eagles with 19 points.
- Freshman guard Octavia Loll was just behind with 10 points.
-Darian Apperson and Mya Walker both led Charleston in rebounds with 5 each.
WEST VIRGINIA WESLEYAN INDIVDUAL LEADERS
-Tara Goldman led the bobcats with 15 point and 8 boards.
- Lana Long was second in points with 9.
THE NUMBERS
-The score was tied 5 times throughout competition.
-Charleston shot 40 percent from the field and 66.7 percent from the the foul line.
-27 of UC's 56 points were scored off the bench.
