CHARLESTON, W.Va, -- Charleston Men's Basketball (15-14) outscored Urbana University (12-16) 76-62 in the first round of the Mountain East Conference Tournament. Justin Coleman notched his 19th double-double of the season ranking him No. 2 in the nation for double-doubles this season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-Urbana got on the board first with a three pointer to start the game. Charleston jumped ahead 4-3 with a layup by Justin Coleman. Urbana took back the lead and held on for most of the first half. Both teams went almost scoreless for the next six minutes until a free throw by Charleston's Jordan Smith brought the score to 9-5.
- Urbana maintained the 5-point lead until Elliot Cole hit a layup and then picked off a pass and sent it to Justin Coleman for the transition bucket bringing the score within one. Cole tied the game up with a 3-ball just a few possessions later.
- Charleston took the lead at the 5-minute mark and used the final minutes of the half to build their 10-point advantage that would take them into the half.
- Following the slow first half, Charleston built a sizeable advantage leading 57-37 midway through the second half after going on an 11-2 run. The Blue Knights cut the lead to 13 with 9:02 left to go, but UC would hold onto their lead through the end of regulation topping the Blue Knights 76-62.
CHARLESTON INDIVIDUAL LEADERS
- Elliot posted 28 points in the win to lead the Golden Eagles. Keir Anderson was just behind with 15 points.
- Justin Coleman tabbed is 19
th double-double of the season with 11 points and 14 rebounds
URBANA INDIVIDUAL LEADERS
- Jahmere Howze led the Blue Knights with 18 points and 18 rebounds.
FROM THE SCORER'S TABLE
- Charleston shot 49.1 percent from the field and 57.6 percent from the free throw line.
- UC outscored Urbana 10-2 in transition.
