WISE, Va. – Charleston rallied for four runs in the final two innings of yesterday's doubleheader against UVa.-Wise to earn a split after dropping a close game in the opener.

Game 1
The Golden Eagles jumped on the Cavaliers early, scoring five runs in the opening frame, highlighted by a Taylor Itnyre double to left center that brought in two. Wise countered with a pair of runs of their own to make it a 5-2 game after one complete. UC again found themselves in the scoring column in the second, a pair driven in by a Steven Davis single to put UC up 8-2. The Cavaliers again had an answer, plating four runs led by a 3-run HR by Matthew Branham to trim it to 8-6 heading to the third inning.
Charleston continued to push runs across, carrying a 10-7 lead into the bottom of four but it wouldn't be enough as Wise scored the game's final five runs to earn 12-10 win to open the Thursday doubleheader.
Game 2
Unlike game one, the second game saw fewer runners cross home plate and UC was staring another loss in the eye trailing 4-1 entering the final two innings of the seven inning game. UC's Lee Carneal started the late comeback for Charleston, belting a 2-run HR in the 6
th inning to trim the deficit to 4-3 going into the 7
th and final inning.
UC starting pitcher Austin Henrich worked a clean sixth to set up UC's come-from-behind win. Charleston tied the game at 4-4 following a pair of errors that allowed Jeff Somuk to score after singling earlier in the inning. The winning game came on a sacrifice fly RBI by Colby Johnson to left field that brought home Ethan Hunt.
Brandon Harris came in for his fourth save of the season, stranding the Wise tying run at 2
nd to give UC a 5-4 road win and split the doubleheader with Wise.

The Golden Eagles head back to Wise, Va. on Monday to finish the 4-game series with the Cavaliers. First pitch is set for 4:00 p.m.
