CHARLESTON, W.Va. – The University of Charleston Golden Eagles (31-12, 19-5 MEC) took home a pair of wins on Thursday afternoon to sweep Glenville State (13-30, 7-17 MEC).

GAME ONE
-In the bottom of the second with Shelby Ume on base, Bethany Williams hit a single to center field to send the first run of the game home for the Golden Eagles.
-During the next at bat, Ansley Warner hit a single to right field to advance Williams, giving Charleston the 2-0 lead.
-The remaining innings were scoreless for both teams giving Charleston the 2-0 victory in game one
GAME TWO
-After taking game one 2-0, the Golden Eagles got the ball rolling in the bottom of the first inning in game two when Laura Ashlock hit a single up the middle to send Rachelle Toppings home (1-0).
-With the score at 1-0 Ansley Warner hit a SAC fly to center field to send Stanley home for the 2-0 score.
-Neither team scored in the third and fourth innings, but in the bottom of the fifth, Haleigh Christopher hit a single to the left side to send Monica Carter home (3-0). On the next at bat, Ashlock hit a double to center field to bring Sierra Harrington home for UC (4-0).
-In the bottom of the sixth with the bases loaded, Monica Carter reached first on an error by the Glenville catcher, advancing all the runners to bring Warner home for UC.
-One batter later, Christopher hit a double to send Natalie Beck and Toppings home to bring the score to 7-0.
-Laura Ashlock hit a single to left field to send Christopher home for the 8-0 lead and end game two to give UC the sweep.
UP NEXT
-Charleston will host West Virginia Wesleyan on Sunday, April 23 for a double header set to begin at 1:00 p.m. The Golden Eagles will honor their seniors before the first pitch.
