CHARLESTON, W.Va. –  The University of Charleston Softball team (31-14, 19-7 MEC) was swept by the Bobcats of West Virginia Wesleyan (36-6, 22-4 MEC) on Sunday afternoon.

THE BASICS
GAME 1 –Wesleyan 3; Charleston 1
GAME 2 –Wesleyan 2; Charleston 1

GAME ONE
-After 3 scoreless innings for both teams, Charleston took a 1 run lead when Alyssa Stanley grounded out to second baseman allowing Sierra Harrington to score for the Golden Eagles.
-Charleston maintained their 1-0 lead through the fifth inning, but in the top of the sixth Olivia Gore hit a double to center field sending Tori Pogue home for the tying run. Jessica Rodriguez singled to center field to bring Gore home for the 2-1 lead.
-In the top of the seventh Gore reached first base on an error allowing two runners to advance with Pogue scoring for the Bobcats. The Golden Eagles were unable to tie the game up in the bottom of the seventh giving Wesleyan the 3-1 victory.

GAME TWO
-The Bobcats jumped in front in the top of the second inning with Morgan Bruce hit a double to right field sending Olivia Kula home for the 1-0 lead.
-In the bottom of the second the Golden Eagles tied the game up when Alyssa Stanley hit a single to right field to bring Monica Carter home (1-1).
-The scored remained tied for the next two innings until the top of the fifth when Brooklyn Waddell hit a double to right field sending Pogue home for the 2-1 lead.
-The Bobcats held on to the 1 run advantage though the sixth and seventh inning to sweep the Golden Eagles with the 2-1 victory.

UP NEXT
-The Golden Eagles will travel to Institute to face their cross-town rivals, West Virginia State on Wednesday in a double header set to begin at 4:00 p.m.
