CHARLESTON, WV. – The University of Charleston Golden Eagles (12-15, 0-12 EIVA) took the Battlers of Alderson Broaddus (4-15) in 4 sets on Wednesday night.
THE BASICS

HOW IT HAPPENED
-The two teams kept the scoring close until a service error by Terrell Hightower gave UC the 8-7 lead. UC build a 5-point advantage leading 19-14 towards the end of set one, and maintained their lead to take set one 25-19.
-In the second set Alderson Broaddus jumped ahead halfway though the match leading UC 16-13. Charleston brought the score within two, but the Battlers were able to secure the 6-point lead to close set two out ahead of the Golden Eagle 25-19.
-Once again in game three, AB built at 12-6 lead, but with the score at 17-21, Brian Cranston tabbed 3 back-to-back kills to cut the lead to just one point. With momentum on the side of the Golden Eagles an attack error by Justin Glader tied the game up at 21-21. Charleston took the 22-21 lead with a kill by Brian Cranston. The score was tied two more times before a kill by Santos, and a double block by Stuart and Santos gave UC the 25-23 victory.
-Both teams kept the score close throughout what could be the final set of the match. Nearing the end with the score at 23-22 with UC on top a kill by Cranston put UC within one point of match victory. On the next play an attack error and block by Eugene Stuart gave Charleston the 25-22 set win over AB.
-Charleston took the match 3 sets to 1.
CHARLESTON LEADERS
-Ryan Santos led the Golden Eagles with 21 kills.
-Joseph Medina led with 2 aces and 58 assists.
CRIMSON LEADERS
-Obena Besongngem led the Battlers with 17 kills.
-Myles Miller led with 1 ace and 6 blocks while Benjamin Bravo led with 40 assists and 7 digs.
