CHARLESTON, W.Va. – The University of Charleston Golden Eagles (25-10, 13-3 MEC) swept Glenville State (11-25, 5-13 MEC) on Sunday. Charleston closed game one out 4-2 before scoring six runs in the seventh inning of game two to win 14-2.

GAME ONE
-With Monica Carter on first, Freshman Haleigh Christopher tripled to bring the score to 1-0. During the next at bat Laura Ashlock hit a single to bring Christopher home.
-After not scoring in the second inning, Shelby Ume hit a double to send Haleigh Christopher home for the score (3-0).
-Neither team scored in the fourth inning, but Charleston sent their fourth run home when Alyssa Stanley hit a single to send Ume home for UC. In the bottom of the fifth inning Hannah Wright hit a two run homer to cut the UC lead to 2 runs, but neither team would score in the final two innings giving UC the 4-2 victory.

GAME TWO
-Monica Carter got the scoring started for Charleston in the top of the first inning after hitting a single to send Rachelle Toppings home. In the top of the third inning Monica Carter hit a double sending two more runners home for Charleston (3-0). Two batters later Laura Ashlock hit a singled sending Carter home to bring the score to 4-0.
-Carter sent two more runners home after hitting a double in the top of the fourth inning giving UC the 6-0 advantage.
-Freshman, Haleigh Christopher hit her 11^th homerun of the season for two RBIs. Glenville State got on the board after Taylor Gilliland singled to send a run home for the Pioneers.
-Both teams went scoreless for the fifth and sixth inning, until Charleston sent six runners home to close out the top of the seventh. Shelby Ume scored on a wild pitch to give UC the 9-1 lead. Sierra Harrington Singled to send Stanley home.
-Natalie Beck hit a triple to send Toppings and Harrington home. Carter singled to send beck home. Darcy Kepner hit a singled to advance Carter for the 14-1 lead.
-In the bottom of the seventh Mackenzie Smith hit a single RBI to give Glenville their second run of the game.
-The Golden Eagles closed out game two with a 14-2 victory to sweep Glenville.

STAT CHECK
-Freshman Haleigh Christopher hit her 11^th homerun of the season to lead UC.
-Monica Carter's 6 RBIs tied her for the second best game in program history.
