CHARLESTON, W.Va. – The University of Charleston women's soccer team (3-2-3, 2-1-3 MEC) slipped past regional opponent Ashland University (2-3-2, 0-0 GLIAC) on Friday afternoon.

How it Happened
-The Eagles of Ashland University struck first when Hillary Mihalik struck at ball from outside the box grazing the keepers fingers before hitting the net. The lead was short lived when freshman midfielder Alanaa Mikulis took a free kick from outside the box and put it right past the Ashland keeper (1-1). The two teams went to the half with the score tied 1-1.
-After the break and nearly 20 scoreless minutes in the second half, senior midfielder Lyndsey Thompson took a volley from the top of the box and found the net for her third goal of the season to give Charleston the 2-1 lead. The Golden Eagles held on the remaining 16 minutes of regulation to take the 2-1 victory.
-Ashland out shot the Golden Eagles 16-4 in the contest and held a 7-1 advantage on corner kicks.
