How it Happened
After a closely played first quarter where Charleston held a slim three-point lead, 17-14, Concord exploded for 26 second quarter points to outscore the Golden Eagles by 18 points in the frame and take a 40-25 lead into halftime. The Golden Eagles hang their hat on their defensive effort, the league's best at opponent field goal percentage but Concord had an extremely efficient night from the field, shooting 54% for the game and 75% in the fourth quarter to keep UC from making the comeback.
Charleston did make things interesting though, forcing eight Mountain Lion turnovers in the third to scratch their way back into the game and only trail by six, 50-44, after holding Concord scoreless over the final four minutes of the quarter. UC couldn't get the stops they needed in the final quarter, as the Mountain Lions went 9-for-12 in the final 10 minutes to hold on to the 75-70 home win over UC.
