Men's Basketball Cruises to Victory Over Falcons

CHARLESTON, WV. – The University of Charleston Golden Eagles (12-8, 8-6 MEC) cruised to a 100-62 victory over the Notre Dame Falcons (5-15, 3-11 MEC). The Golden Eagles shot nearly 60 percent from the field en-route to their eighth MEC victory of the year and improve to 12-8 on the season.

How it Happened
The Golden Eagles jumped to an early lead shooting 54 percent from the field to lead the Falcons 31-21 with 9:32 to play in the first half. The Golden Eagles were led by Austin Howard with 16 points in the first half as Charleston shot 53 percent from the field. The Golden Eagles held the Falcons to just 36 percent in the first half to head into the locker room leading Notre Dame 49-34.

Charleston came out of the break to go on a 9-0 lead ending with a three pointer by Riley Heatherington in the opening minutes of the second half to give the Golden Eagles a 58-35 lead.  

Midway through second half the Golden Eagles posted a 76-47 lead over the Falcons. Howard continued to lead the Golden Eagles with 16 points. With just over four minutes to play the Golden Eagles led 95-54. Charleston held on to win 100-62.

Charleston Individual Leaders
Freshman forward, Riley Heatherington posted a double-double with 16 points and 12 rebounds to lead the Golden Eagles. Senior Austin Howard tallied 16 points in the Golden Eagles victory.

Falcons Individual Leaders
Levi Frankland led the Falcons with 17 points. Angelo Cugini led in the paint with nine rebounds.
