CHARLESTON, W.Va. – After making it to the MEC Championship Final, the Golden Eagles weren't able to top the Cardinals from Wheeling Jesuit, falling 3-0, and ending their 2018 season.

How It Happened

After a long and tough fought 2018 season, the Golden Eagles' road stopped on Saturday evening, after falling 3-0 to Wheeling Jesuit in the MEC Championship final. Although Charleston suffered a loss to the Cardinals, they have a lot to be proud for, as this year was the first time they have made it to the MEC Championship in program history.

The first set of play was even between the two sides for most of the set, however, the Cardinals slowly began to pull away from the Golden Eagles, falling 25-12, giving WJU a 1-0 the lead. Heading into the second set of play, the Golden Eagles trailed the Cardinals by a set, and could not seem to find their footing and gain the edge. Although battling hard, Charleston was not able to outplay the Cardinals, falling in the second set 25-17.
 
The last set of the day was a quick one, as UC fell 25-14 against the Cardinals from Wheeling Jesuit. The Golden Eagles worked hard to make it to the final, however, they were not able to top the cardinals falling 3-0.
