CALIFORNIA, Pa. – The Cal Pa. Vulcans outscored the Golden Eagles 27-5 in a strong fourth quarter performance to lift them over the Charleston Golden Eagles on Sunday afternoon.

How it Happened
The Golden Eagles jumped to an early lead holding a 12-3 advantage over the Vulcans nearly half way through the first quarter. However, over the next two minutes Cal, would close the gap and tie the game up 12-12 with just over two minutes to play. Neither team scored in the final two minutes until Aloneet Durden went 1-for-2 from the line to give UC the 13-12 lead heading into the second.
As the second quarter went on the Golden Eagles maintained their lead, with the Vulcans keeping the game tight, never trailing by more than four points. Cal tied the game up again with 4:22 to play in the half at 21-21. The lead changed six times before the end of the second, when Rizayah Farrington completed a three-point play to give the Golden Eagles the two-point lead.
Nearly three minutes went by to open the third quarter before Farrington hit a layup to give UC the four-point lead. The Golden Eagles clung to their advantage through the third quarter leading 48-43 to head into the final period.
The Vulcans turned the head up in the fourth quickly tying the 49-48 lead 8:40 to play. The Vulcans never trained in the fourth outscoring Charleston 27-5 to take a swift 70-53 victory handing the Golden Eagles their first loss of the season.
