UC's First Half Lead Isn't Enough to Advance Past Fairmont

How it Happened

UC led the Falcons from Fairmont State 23-19 heading in to the second half of the game, but the hosts answered back in the last 20 minutes of the game.  In the first half, UC's offense proved too strong for Fairmont as Charleston cruised past leading the game. However, the third quarter turned the game around, giving Fairmont the advantage that they held until the end.

The Golden Eagles led Fairmont in field goal percentage (37.5), rebounds (39, and steals (4).  These strong performances could not propel UC past the Falcons as Charleston was 1-8 at the three-point line, while Fairmont was 1-2, putting their percentage four times higher than the Golden Eagles.  Octavia Loll's impressive 16 points couldn't help UC gain the win, as the Falcons defense held tight in the last quarter, allowing Fairmont to win 56-54.
