WINGATE, N.C. – Charleston was shutout Sunday afternoon by Wingate University, 10-0, as the Bulldogs completed the three-game sweep of the Golden Eagles to open UC's 2018 season.

THE GAME
Charleston's offense was held in check Sunday, coming up with just four hits against the Bulldog staff led by starter Jimmy Doolittle who went six innings in the win for Wingate. Golden Eagle starter Jonathan Carr worked three scoreless innings before the Bulldogs finally got to the sophomore starter, forcing him out in the fifth inning after giving up five runs on seven hits.
UC's Jordan Peck was strong in his Golden Eagle debut, tossing an inning and a third of scoreless work while allowing just a single hit and striking out one Bulldog.
For the weekend Charleston batted just .194 while the Bulldogs hit nearly .400 at .391. UC's pitching staff will look to make improvements on the hill after posting a team ERA of 13.88 after the three-game series, allowing 41 runs on 43 hits.
