CHARLESTON, WV – The Golden Eagles took home two more wins in day two of the Spring break tournament downing Slippery Rock 7-4 and Edinboro 12-3.

How it Happened
GAME 1:
Slippery Rock got the ball rolling in the top of the fourth inning with a two-run homer to take a quick lead on Charleston. Shelby Ume singled to bring A.J. Martin home to bring UC within one.
In the top of the fifth Becca Roesch hit a two-run homer to give SRU the 4-1 lead over the Golden Eagles. The bottom of the fifth was a big showing for the Golden Eagles. Karli Pinkerton sent Emily Dutton home with a double to center field to cut the Slippery Rock lead in half. A.J. Martin brought Schmidt home for the Golden Eagles with a single to center field. Christopher followed with a two-run single to take the lead for the first time.
Shelby Ume hit a single to bring Kendall Marshall home to give UC the 6-4 lead. A stolen base by Ume allowed Julia DeSalvo to score on an error to put UC up 7-4. Charleston held on to win 7-4 in their third showing of the trip.
GAME 2:
Haleigh Christopher hit a single to left center in the top of the first sending Kendall Marshall and Karli Pinkerton home to give UC the 2-0 lead. Charleston increased their lead to 3-0 with a single by Karli Pinkerton to bring Emily Dutton home.
The third inning was big for Charleston offensively. Shelby Ume singled up the middles to send Kendall Marshall home to bring the score to 4-0. Emily Dutton hit her first homerun of of the year bringing three runs home for UC giving them the 7-0 lead over Edinboro. In the top of the fourth Christopher double to right center sending Kendall Marshall home for the 8-0 lead. Senior first baseman Danielle Norton singled to third base bringing Haliegh Christopher home.
Edinboro got on the board with two runs in the bottom of the fourth to bring the score to 9-2. The bats fell silent for the fifth and sixth innings for Charleston allowing Edinboro to score their third run of the game in the bottom of the sixth. In the top of the seventh the Golden Eagles sent home three more runs to take the 12-3 victory over the Fighting Scotts.
Up Next
Charleston will pick back up on Wednesday taking on Millersville University at 2:00 p.m. followed by a 7:00 p.m. matchup against Lock Haven.
