How it Happened
Charleston, although being swept in six straight sets, played the Patriots than what showed on the scoreboard. In both matches the Golden Eagles held late leads in two of the three sets before eventually falling to George Mason in each of those closely played games. Statistically, George Mason put up better numbers throughout the pair of matches against Charleston, but the Golden Eagles continued to fight and find ways to hang around with the Patriots who entered Friday's match on a six-game win streak.
Since starting the season 3-0 in EIVA play, Charleston has dropped their last seven conference matches. Although the Golden Eagles have played in some tight sets, they have only been able to win a single set in those seven losses. UC has dropped to seventh in the eight-team conference with four EIVA matches remaining on the 2018 schedule, all in the Wehrle Innovation Center. Their next conference match will be on Friday, April 6
th when the Golden Eagles play host to Penn State University.
