CHARLESTON, WV – Charleston Softball split their second outing with the Concord University Mountain Lions. Concord took the victory in game one, 1-0 followed by dropping the second game to the Golden Eagles 6-3.

How it Happened
GAME 1: Neither team could get the bats rolling in game one, until the bottom of the third when Jenna Witt reached on an error by the Charleston center fielder allowing Kayle Starnes to score for the Mountain Lions.
Concord held on to win 1-0.
GAME 2:
With runners on second and third, Rachel Rusch singled to left field allowing Haleigh Christopher to score for UC. The Golden Eagles went back through the batting order, allowing Christopher to step in and hit her 22nd career homerun for 2 RBIs in the top of the third.
Lauren Blunt answered with a double down the left field line to send Amber Stokes home. Witt sacrificed to bring Blunt home and cut the UC lead to just one run.
In the bottom of the sixth, Abby Beatty hit a home run to tie the game up 3-3. The Golden Eagles had a crucial seventh inning with a two-RBI single from Danielle Norton to give the Golden Eagles the two-run advantage. Kendall Marshall also notched a single to left field bringing home Emily Dutton. The Golden Eagles held on through the bottom of the seventh to win 6-3.

Charleston will travel to UVA-Wise on Saturday to face the Cavaliers. Game one is set to begin at 2:00 p.m.
