THE GAMES
GAME 1
Charleston starter Adam Jafine won his fifth straight game for the Golden Eagles, tossing five innings while allowing three runs on seven hits. The senior hasn't lost since his second start of the season, a 7-3 loss to Cedarville University. With the victory, Jafine moved to 5-1 on the season. UC jumped out to a 6-0 lead in the fifth inning, with Golden Eagle catcher Nick Wilson accounting for a pair of the runs driven in. Wilson finished the afternoon going 2-for-4 with a pair of hits and two RBI's. Jack Brunetti also added a pair of hits and an RBI.
GAME 2
It was a pitcher's duel for most of Friday's second half of the doubleheader, as Charleston starter Brandon Harris and Pioneer ace Adam Riggleman held their opposition without a run through four innings. It was the Pioneers who broke through in the fifth, a 2-run homerun by John Peloro broke the scoreless game. Charleston cut the deficit in half in the top of the sixth on a Steven Davis sacrifice fly that brought in Gianfranco Morello, but it was all the Golden Eagles could put up with Pioneers earning the split with a 3-1 victory. Ryan Hunt had half of Charleston's hits going 3-for-3 with a double and a stolen base.
