HOW IT HAPPENED
The Golden Eagles knew what needed to be done on Sunday afternoon to secure their spot at the 2018 MEC Tournament, starting the scoring early when Sam Youngman put one in the back of the net for UC with 24:06 left to play in the first half. Within the next two minutes, Youngman and Esther Yi found the goal again to add two more goals for Charleston, making the score 3-1 with 22:01 still remaining before the half. The first half of play continued to go back in forth with goals from each side before Youngman scored one last goal for UC to end the first 30 minutes 9-5.
Heading into the second half UC continued to play with fire, knowing that a win would carry them to post-season play. Yi scored the first goal for UC in the second half with 23:08 remaining in play, with the Bobcats pressuring hard to try and make up the four-goal deficit. UC's momentum remained strong however, and with five more goals from Youngman, Abby McGowan, and Emma Renda, Charleston defeated the Bobcats 15-11.
