CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- The University of Charleston softball team will welcome nine new members for the 2018-2019 season. The recruiting class includes two transfer student-athletes and seven incoming freshmen. The new Golden Eagles hail from Indiana, Maryland, Ohio, Tennessee and West Virginia.
Cristianna Boggs, an intended Nursing major, comes to UC from Galion, Ohio and Northmor High School. The speedy outfielder was named a 1st Team All-Conference member and 1st Team All-District member in 2016, 2017 and 2018. Boggs was an All-State selection in 2016 and 2017. The National Honor Society member also earned All-Conference honors in both volleyball and basketball.
Brionna Bowman is an infielder and intended Radiology major. She joins the Golden Eagles from Chesapeake High School in Pasadena, Maryland. Bowman was an All-County selection in 2017 and 2018.
Gracie Donato comes to UC from nearby Riverside, High School and Chesapeake, West Virginia. Donato, a first basemen, is a four-time All-State selection, twice named to the 1st team and twice to the 2nd team. She garnered 1st team All-Kanawha Valley honors and All MSAC honors in 2017 and 2018 and 2nd team honors in 2015 and 2016. Donato, a high honors graduate and intended Nursing major also participated in the North/South All Star game for West Virginia.
Destinee Miles is a junior transfer from Wabash Valley Community College and is a Biology major. The Indianapolis, Indiana native was a two time Academic All American and NJCAA All Region XXIV selection at Wabash Valley. Miles was named a 2nd Team NJCAA All American and selected as a member of the NFCA Midwest Region 2nd team.
Amber Null is also a junior transfer. Null comes to UC after playing her first two seasons at Morehead State University. At Morehead State, Null received NFCA All American Scholar Athlete and OVC Commissioners Honor Roll honors. A native of Hurricane, West Virginia, she attended Hurricane High School and earned All Kanawha Valley accolades in 2013, 2014 and 2016 and All MSAC honors in 2014 and 2016. The outfielder was also an All-State selection in 2015 and 2016 and was part of three high school state championship teams.
Hannah Pullen from Winifrede, West Virginia, joins Riverside High School teammate, Gracie Donato and Sophomore Kendal Marshall on the Golden Eagles squad. Pullen, a high honors graduate, was also a member of the National Honor Society and National Technical Honor Society. As a short stop, Pullen earned 2nd
Team All State accolades for the 2018 season. Hannah intends to major in Radiology at UC.
Brynna Teal comes to UC from Kingsport, Tennessee and plans to major in Nursing. The catcher and infielder was four time 1st Team All-Conference selection at Sullivan South High School. Brynna was also a member of the National Honor Society.
Carly Turner is a pitcher and three time 1st Team All-State Selection from Springfield, Ohio. Turner was named Central Buckeye Conference Player of the year in 2016, 2017 and 2018 and was both a three time 1st Team All CBC honoree and three time 1st Team All Southwest District selection. The decorated two-way player set the career home run record, season home run record, career RBI record and the career strikeout record at Kenton Ridge High School. The National Honor Society member and intended Nursing major, also threw two perfect games in her career at Kenton Ridge High School.
Kerri VanMeter comes to UC from Petersburg High School in Petersburg, West Virginia and rounds out the recruiting class. VanMeter intends to major in Business Management and Accounting. She was named the Most Outstanding Offensive Player in 2016, 2017 and 2018 at Petersburg High School. In addition, she was named all PVC in 2017 and garnered 2nd Team All State accolades in 2018. The National Honor Society member also participated in both the West Virginia North/South All Star game and the West Virginia/ Maryland All Star Game.
