CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- After a slow start in the first half the Golden Eagles (3-0, 3-0 MEC) downed the West Liberty Hilltoppers (1-2, 1-2 MEC). Charleston looks ahead going 3-0 into their Thursday matchup with the currently undefeated Fairmont State Falcons.

How it Happened
West Liberty struck first with a 31 yard field goal to end the first quarter. A scoreless second half sent the Golden Eagles into the locker room down 3-0.
Less than four minutes into the second half, Mason Olszewski took the ball 27 yards on the keeper to give the Golden Eagles their first lead of the game. West Liberty quickly answered just over a minute later when Zach Phillips hit Ridge Durbin on a 11 yrd pass to put the Hilltoppers back up 10-7.
With four minutes left in the third quarter, Jimmy Wheeler took the ball 13 yards for Charleston second TD of the game, giving the Golden Eagles the 14-10 lead to close the third quarter.
Charleston's Kevin Weiman opened up the fourth quarter with a 20 yard field goal to increase Charleston's lead to 17-10. After freshman linebacker Michael Perry recovered the kick for the Golden Eagles, Olszewski kept the ball once again to score for the Golden Eagles, sealing their 24-10 victory.

- Jimmy Wheeler led the Golden Eagles on the ground with 125 yards and 1 touchdown.
-James Bryant's 51 yard reception was UC's longest of the night.
- Kaz Daniels led the front for UC with 10 tackles, 3 TFLs, and 3 Sacks. The senior defensive lineman also tallied two QB hurries in the victory.
