CHARLESTON, WV – Charleston women's soccer team (2-4, 1-1 MEC) added a win to their record, as they breezed past the Pioneers from Glenville State College, winning 5-0, gaining their first win in MEC play on Sunday afternoon.

How it Happened
The Golden Eagles were strong from the start on Sunday afternoon, defeating Glenville State 5-0, with two goals in the first half, and three in the second. UC started their scoring early, as freshman Keira Hill sailed one in off an as assist from Alana Mikulis, putting the Golden Eagles up 1-0, with 30:00 left to play in the first half.
After multiple shots from Charleston, senior Claire Couturier gave UC their second goal of the day as she slipped one past Glenville State goalkeeper Hannah Beaty with 19:00 left in the half. UC kept their tempo up, with 13 more shots before the end of the first half, heading into halftime up 2-0.
Heading into the second half, Charleston kept their momentum with a goal from freshman Madison Hansen assisted by freshman Jessica Seaton, putting UC up 3-0. The Golden Eagles kept possessing the ball, adding another goal to their lead, as sophomore Megan Scarberry whipped one into the back of the net with less than 20 minutes to play, putting UC up 4-0. Less than 15 minutes later, UC saw a goal from freshman Amanda Effler, to give the Golden Eagles the final goal of the game, defeating Glenville State 5-0, in their first MEC win of the season.
