How it Happened
Charleston defeated Shepherd on Thursday afternoon, after a lone goal from senior Alana Mikulis gave the Golden Eagles the edge up late in the second half of the game. The game started slow for both sides, with fairly even play from each team.
Less than 10 minutes in, UC's Keira Hill hit a shot wide, giving Charleston more momentum to go forward. UC kept up the tempo with five shots before the half, compared to zero shots from the Rams. The Golden Eagles ended the first half of play scoreless, but with more energy and speed than Shepherd.
UC started the second half of play strong, with a shot from freshman Kassie Demps in the fourth minute of play. This intensity ultimately led to a goal from senior Alana Mikulis, from a cross in from freshman Roberta Pomi. The Golden Eagles ended the game with a 1-0 win over the Rams.
