WALLY EDGELL INVITATIONAL RESULTS
DAVIS, W.Va.. --
Elizabeth Karsten (Rochester, N.Y.) and University of Charleston women's golf took home individual and team titles at the rain shortened Wally Edgell Invitational at Canaan Valley Resort on Tuesday afternoon.
Play was canceled after too much rain entered the Davis area on Tuesday morning, rendering the course unplayable.  Karsten and Charleston took advantage of a strong opening round on Monday to post the day's best scores both as an individual and as a team.  Karsten turned in a first-round 4-over, 76 to hold a two-stroke lead over the field heading into Tuesday's canceled round.  The junior also led Charleston to a team lead over Alderson Broaddus, posting a team total of +36 which was six strokes better than the Battlers. Â
The Golden Eagles had three players inside of the top-10 while all five Charleston players finished inside of the top-20.  It marks the first tournament title the Golden Eagles have captured for the 2018-19 golf season. Â
The Golden Eagles return to the links on Oct. 15 - 17 in the Mountain East Conference Golf Championships. Â The 2018 MEC Championship will be held at The Resort at Glade Springs in Daniels, W.Va.
