ATHENS, W.Va. – The Golden Eagles (2-0, 2-0 MEC) are off to their best start since the 2015 season, after a 42-21 victory over the Concord Mountain Lions (1-1, 1-1 MEC).

How it Happened
The Golden Eagles jumped ahead with 3:33 to go in the first quarter. Mason Olszewski hit Jimmy Wheeler for 47 yards to put UC up 7-0.
Wheeler took the ball again in the second quarter, rushing six yards for Charleston's second TD of the game. Concord answered back four minutes later as Kyle Akin hit Tywan Pearce for 9 yards to cut the UC lead in half.
Charleston got a leg up early in the second half when Damion May hit Mike Strachan for 19 yards giving UC the 21-7 lead. Concord's Brandon Plyler caught a 15 yard pass for the Mountain Lions second touchdown of the game to start the fourth quarter.
With five minutes left to play Kane Roush took the ball nine yards for the Golden Eagles bringing the score to 35-14. Four minutes later Garrett Roberts ran in his first touchdown of the season. Concord still had the last work as Plyler scored for the second time of the night bringing the score to 42-21 with 10 seconds left to play.
The Golden Eagles went on to their 42-21 victory heading into week three.
