How It Happened
The Golden Eagles fell in three sets on Friday night, after the Buckeyes from Ohio State University defeated them. Charleston's Maarten Bartels had the first kill of the set, giving UC a 1-0 edge. The first set continued to stay fairly even between the two sides for the first 10 points, but slowly Ohio State began to pull away, defeating UC 25-17.
The second set of play was a similar story for the Golden Eagles, as OSU pulled away after the 11
thpoint. The sides went back and forth until they were tied at 11-11, but the Golden Eagles could not keep up with the energy of the Buckeyes, losing the set 25-18.
Charleston was not able to rally heading into the last set of the day, fighting against OSU to win a set. The Golden Eagles, however, were unsuccessful, as the Buckeyes gradually increased the gap in score between the two sides. UC fell in the final set 25-15, and 0-3 on the day.
