WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. – The University of Charleston Women's Soccer team left West Liberty this evening with their first tie of the season as the Golden Eagles battled the Hilltoppers for 110 minutes of scoreless play before ending in a 0-0 tie.

HOW IT HAPPENED
 
Despite a solid defensive effort that held the Hilltoppers to just two shots (one on net), the Golden Eagles were unable to execute on 14 shots (10 on net) of their own. Charleston, who averages just over two corner kicks per game, was awarded six during the contest.
 
The first half brought limited action for the Hilltoppers, who were unable to produce a shot compared to Charleston's' six. Four West Liberty saves kept UC off the board heading into halftime. Offensively, the Golden Eagles were led by 
Keira Hill who put four shots on net, while 
Alana Mikulis, 
Roberta Pomi, and 
Brooke Garey each had two of their own. Hilltopper Goalkeeper Olivia Montgomery recorded 10 saves on 14 shots faced.
 
Heading into overtime, West Liberty was unable to produce a shot on net for Charleston GK 
Kaylee Hensley, who finished the game with just one save on two shots faced. For Hensley, it was her fifth career shutout while the UC defense picked up their fourth shutout of the season.
 
During the overtime period, Charleston recorded three shots on net while holding the Hilltoppers to just one.
 
Charleston will return home on Thursday to square off against the Cardinals of Wheeling University (0-10-0, 0-7-0 MEC) with kickoff scheduled for 4:00 p.m. at the Welch Athletic Complex.
