Golden Eagles Take 3-1 Victory Over Cardinals

WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. – The University of Charleston Women's Soccer team (6-5-1, 4-3-1 MEC), tallied their first come-from-behind victory against the Wheeling University Cardinals (0-11-0, 0-6-0 MEC). After facing a 1-0 deficit in the first half, Charleston rallied, scoring two goals in the first half to take the lead, following a goal in the second to seal the victory.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Golden Eagles started off on their heels, as the Cardinals found the net at the 32 min mark. Braedynn Porter played a ball across the face of the goals for Marley Magruder who was crashing the net for the 1-0 lead.
 
After going down 1-0 the Golden Eagles began to surge offensively outshooting their opponents 8-1 in the first half. The equalizer came at the 38-minute mark from the foot of Keira Hill from Alana Mikulis. Charleston took their first lead of the game with 30 seconds to play in the half on a goal from Madison Hansen. Mikulis was credited with the assist on the second goal as well.
 
After the break, the Golden Eagles struck early in the second half, as Brooke Lucasdrove into the box, playing the ball across the six-yard box for Brooke Lucaswho finished the ball for the 3-1 lead, and her first goal of the 2019 season.
 
The Golden Eagles continued to attack through the remainder of the second half outshooting their opponents 17-7. Charleston held on to win 3-1, improving to 6-5-1 on the season.
 
UP NEXT
Charleston will hit the road on Sunday to take on the Notre Dame Falcons. Kickoff is slated for 12:00 p.m. in South Euclid, Ohio.
