Golden Eagles Fall 1-0 in Overtime

BUCKHANNON, W. Va. – After 90 minutes of scoreless soccer, The Golden Eagles (7-7-1 5-5-1 MEC), were deadlocked with the West Virginia Wesleyan Bobcats (8-6-0, 7-4-0 MEC) until the first overtime period where the Bobcats closed out the game with the sudden 1-0 win. The Golden Eagles were narrowly outshot 9-8 in the contest, with seven of the Charleston shots being on frame.

GAME LEADERS:
-Taylor Maucere scored the game winner for the Bobcats with an assist from Madison LaPole  
-Shannon Henson and Keira Hill led the Golden Eagles with two shots a piece.
-Kaylee Hensley tallied three saves in the loss.

HOW IT HAPPENED
With the win and three points, the Lady Bobcats moved to 7-4 in conference play, good for second place in the MEC standings six points behind No. 1 Concord.
 
After 90 minutes of deadlocked soccer, the Golden Eagles entered the first golden goal period. With two minutes left to play Madison LaPole played the the ball across the box to Taylor Maucere for the game winner.
 
UPNEXT
The Golden Eagles will play host to the Davis & Elkins Senators on Wednesday. Kickoff is set for 4:00 p.m.
