Golden Eagles Defeat Frostburg State on the Road

FROSTBURG, MD. – The University of Charleston tallied two goals from Sophomore midfielder Keira Hill in the Golden Eagles 2-0 defeat over Frostburg State on Saturday afternoon. With the win, Head Coach Todd Diuguid earned the 150th win of his coaching career at the University. The Golden Eagles, who move to 7-5-1 in MEC play, will close out the regular season against Fairmont State on Wednesday at the WAC with kickoff scheduled for 7:00 p.m.

JUST THE BASICS:
Score:
 Charleston 2, Frostburg State 0
Location: Frostburg, MD. – Bobcat Stadium
Records: Charleston (9-7-1, 7-5-1 MEC), Bobcats (6-10-1, 6-8-0 MEC)

GAME LEADERS:
-Keira Hill scored two goals for the Golden Eagles, giving her a team-leading seven for the season.
-Kaylee Hensley recorded five saves for her sixth shutout of the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The game remained quiet for the first 30 minutes before Shannon Henson fed a pass to Hill who was able to find the upper left-hand corner of the net to push Charleston ahead 1-0. The goal was the only scored during the first half despite a combined 13 shots between the Golden Eagles and the Bobcats.

Defensive pressure from both teams kept the game within a goal for the majority of the second half before Hill once again, unassisted, found the lower-right side of the net to give Charleston a comfortable two goal lead with under three minutes remaining.

With the win, Charleston retains the third-place spot in the MEC South with one game remaining. This afternoon, Davis & Elkins, who is also in contention for third place, was able to defeat the Cardinals of Wheeling University 4-3 in overtime. The Senators have two games remaining on their schedule this season.
