CHARLESTON, W.Va. – The Golden Eagles season continues after a 5-0 blanking of the Mercy College Mavericks in the second round of the 2019 NCAA Men's Soccer Tournament.

HOW IT HAPPENED
After 35 minutes of play, Dan Stratford subbed in, first team All-Region forward, Freddy Tracey, who hit pay dirt shortly after stepping on the field. Jesus Cabanas was credited with the assist after playing a ball across the face of the net where Tracey finished it off for the 1-0 lead.
The two teams would go into the break with the Golden Eagles holding an 8-1 shot advantage on the Mavericks.
Coming out of the half it was just over 10 minutes before Adam Burchell played a ball to Tracey for the 2-0 lead. Charleston then went on a scoring surge for 10 minutes scoring in the 67
th, 70
th, and 75
th, with a pair of goals coming from sophomore, Christos Charalambous. Chris Allan finished off the scoring for the Golden Eagles to further seal the victory for the Golden Eagles.
The Mavericks had chances from Santiago Corral, and Maximiliano Robolledo-Camus.
Charleston will move on to the round of 16 to be played in 12-day's time.

The Golden Eagles will await the results of the NCAA Division 2 game between Assumption and Gannon University to be played on Sunday.
