ATHENS, W. Va. – The Golden Eagles women's basketball team traveled to Athens W. Va. This afternoon for a date with the mountain Lions of Concord University, despite going into overtime, UC could not hold on to the victory as they fell to Concord 81-72.

HOW IT HAPPENED
In the first quarter, the Mountain Lions outscored the Golden Eagles 20-15. UC was 6-19 on field goals and 2-4 on three-pointers. Concord was 8-16 from the field and 2-6 from beyond the arc and had 11 rebounds to go with it. The Mountain Lions lead Charleston 20-11 at one point but allowed the Golden Eagles to come back with 11 unanswered points and brought the game to within five points.
In the second quarter, UC outscored the Mountain Lions 19-15, and brought the game to within one point heading into the half. UC was 8-17 in the field and 3-4 from three-point range. The Mountain Lions were 5-26 from the field and were 2-8 on three-point attempts. Concord took back the lead at the end of the half with 12 seconds left to go as Concord put up a field goal opportunity and got it, allowing them to take the 35-34 lead into the half over UC.
Charleston came back out after halftime and went 5-17 from the field and 1-7 on three-point attempts. Concord was 5-11 from the field and 0-4 on three-pointers. After the end of the third quarter, the game was tied as UC scored 17 in the quarter while Concord tallied 16. Both teams entered the start of the fourth quarter with 51 points apiece.
In the fourth, Charleston scored 16 points while going 5-12 from the field and 2-6 on three-pointers. Concord also had 16 points going 7-11 from the field and 1-3 on three-point attempts. With the pressure building, official time ran out with the game tied at 67 all and forced OT.
Charleston could not get much going in the ladder portion of the game as they could only manage to score five more points while going 1-13 from the field and 0-6 from three-point range. The Mountain Lions sealed the deal scoring 14 points while going 2-4 from the field. They also were 10-14 on their free throw attempts, putting the game away as they won it 72-81.
