CHARLESTON, W. Va. – The UC Golden Eagles will be going on the road this weekend as they are set to take on Concord University at 7:00 p.m. Friday, Nov. 8 and Glenville State College at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 9.
With Concord sitting at the eight spot in the conference, this will be a very important game for the Golden Eagles. Concord is currently 4-8 in the MEC while Charleston is at 3-8. If Charleston were to beat Concord, they would move one spot up in the rankings taking Concord's spot for eighth in the conference. Concord has dropped their previous two matches losing to both Davis & Elkins and West Virginia State in three sets. In their history, UC is 17-1 against the Mountain Lions. The two teams met earlier in the year in Charleston where the Golden Eagles took the match three sets to one.
Following Friday's match, UC will be on the road again on Saturday in Glenville. The Golden Eagles will take on the Pioneers who are 4-20 overall and are 1-10 in conference with their most recent MEC win coming to them last Saturday against West Virginia Wesleyan as they beat the Bobcats three sets to one. Glenville currently sits in dead last in the MEC with five games left in their schedule. UC has never lost to Glenville in their 17-game history. Their most recent win over the Pioneers was earlier this season as UC won in three sets at home.
UC is 8-19 overall on the season with a 3- record in conference play. They have dropped their last five games and will look to change their momentum this weekend. With a possibility to still make the MEC tournament, these last five games of the season will be very important for the Golden Eagles.
UC will look to their seniorsSydney Burt, Janeese VerVelde, Kelsey Matusic and Shelby Kahler for leadership as they head into the last portion of their season with a trip to the MEC tournament on the line.
