WHEELING, W. Va. – The University of Charleston Golden Eagles Women's Basketball team (8-2, 5-1 MEC) defeated the Cardinals of Wheeling University on Saturday evening by a score of 75-43. The Golden Eagles were led offensively by Dakota Reeves, who broke the school record for made 3-PT shots for the second time this season with 10, breaking the prior record of 9 set on November 8
th against California (PA). Reeves now owns a share of the most three-point field goals in a Division II game this season and holds 2 of the top 6 three-point shooting performances in Division II this year.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The first quarter jumped back and forth with Charleston holding a 15-13 advantage at the break. Despite jumping out to an early 12-2 lead, the Cardinals fought back to finish the opening quarter on a 11-3 run to cut the UC lead to just two points.
The Golden Eagles extended their lead to nine with just over 3:00 remaining in the half after Reeves hit her first three of the game to bring the score to 22-13. Reeves finished the half by adding a pair of threes and give Charleston a 28-15 lead headed into the break. The Golden Eagles never looked back after allowing just two points for the duration of the second quarter.
From the end of the first quarter to the end of the third, the Golden Eagles went on a 36-12 run to hold a 51-25 lead going into the final frame.
Charleston continued to pressure the Wheeling defense in the final quarter, beginning the frame on a 7-2 run. The Golden Eagles concluded the game with a 75-43 victory over the opposition.
The Golden Eagles outrebounded Wheeling 52-33 including 19 on the offensive end to help them receive 10 second chance points. The Golden Eagles also forced 14 Cardinal turnovers to help them score 19 points off of turnovers.
