UC Soars Past Frostburg 99-56

CHARLESTON, W. Va. – The Golden Eagles were back at home this afternoon as they took on the Bobcats from Frostburg State University, UC soared past the Bobcats by a score of 99-56.

HOW IT HAPPENED 

The Golden Eagles came out hot in the first quarter leading by a score of 11-2 to begin the game. They went on to take an early lead at the end of the first quarter by a score of 24-16. UC was 9-14 from the field, went 5-8 from beyond the arc and had a total of 8 rebounds. Frostburg was 7-18 from the field while they could only manage to go 1-4 from three-point range.

UC stayed hot in the second quarter as they were 9-14 from the field and 1-2 from three-point range. They managed to score 23 more points in the quarter. Frostburg was 5-12 from the field and 3-7 from beyond the arc. UC took the lead into the half as they led Frostburg 47- 34.

Charleston took no time to widen their lead over the Bobcats in the third quarter as they were 13-17 from the field and cashed in on two three-pointers on four attempts. Frostburg could only manage to scrape together five points in the quarter. UC headed into the fourth quarter with an 82-39 lead.

In the final quarter of the game, the Golden Eagles scored 17 more points going 6-13 from the field and 3-6 from three-point range. Frostburg added 17 more points to their total as well as they were 7-17 from the field and 1-5 from beyond the arc. Charleston closed out the game with a final score of 99-56.

NOTABLE PERFORMANCES

Senior Anna Hayton tied a career-high for points as she dropped 30 in the game going 13-18 from the field and 1-3 from three-point range. Junior Brooklyn Pannell contributed 11 points in the game as she was 4-7 from the field and 1-4 on three-point attempts. Freshman Dakota Reeves had 15 points in the game as she went 5-6 from the field and was 4-5 on three-point attempts.
