PHOENIX, Ariz. – UC men's volleyball went 0-2 on Friiday, falling to #4 ranked University of California Irvine 0-3, and Benedictine University at Mesa 1-3.

How It Happened
MATCH 1
The Golden Eagles stayed close to the #4 ranked UCI in the first set of play, but were unable to stay with the speed of Irvine, falling 21-25. The second set was a familiar story, as the Golden Eagles hung in the set until the eleventh point, but were unable to close the gap. Charleston fell 17-25, going down 0-2 in the match. The third and final set stayed tight until the fourth point, however, UC were not able to top their opponents, falling 16-25, and losing the match 0-3.
MATCH 2
The second game of the day was a closer one for Charleston, as they battled the Redhawks from Benedictine Mesa. The Redhawks were able to snag the first set 25-21, but UC came ready to play in the second set. UC's freshman outside hitter gave the Golden Eagles five kills in the second set, leading Charleston to a 27-25 lead, and tying the match at 1-1. Mesa rallied after this set, taking the next two from UC, and winning the match 3-1.
