CHARLESTON, W.Va. – The Golden Eagles added another win to their record on Valentine's Day, after they defeated the Cardinals from Wheeling Jesuit 62-57.

How it Happened
The first quarter of play started off even between the two sides, as they both scored 11 points. The Golden Eagles went 5-17 from the field goal line, compared to Wheeling's 4-13. Charleston was 20% effective from the three-point line, as the visitors were 40% successful, allowing each team to put 11 points on the board heading into the second quarter of the game.
The second quarter of the game was a change of pace, as the Golden Eagles were unable to keep up with the momentum of Wheeling. The visitors capitalized on 6-13 field goal opportunities, scoring 16b points on UC. The Golden Eagles were unable to match it, only scoring 8, and trailing 27-19 heading into the half.
Charleston came back from the halftime break energized, dropping 24 points on the Cardinals from Wheeling Jesuit. The Golden Eagles were 73% successful from the field goal line, allowing them to surpass the visitors heading into the final quarter of the game. UC had a close 43-42 lead at the end of the third quarter, having to dig deep in the last 10 minutes.
The Golden Eagles worked in the last quarter to keep the lead over the Cardinals, so that they could add another win to their impressive MEC record. Charleston was able to do so, after scoring 19 points compared to Wheeling's 15, winning the game 62-57.
Charleston totaled 15 fast break points, 23 points from turnovers, 40 points in the paint, and 34 points off of the bench to help lead them to their win.
