CHARLESTON, W.Va. – Charleston fell to the visiting Fairmont State Falcons on Thursday night 85-77, after a close battle between the two sides.

How it Happened
Winning possession from the start of the game, the Golden Eagles used the intensity leftover from their win over No. 2 ranked West Liberty to work past the Falcons in the first half. Both teams continued to go basket for basket throughout most of the duration of the 20 minutes, but UC managed to hold them off, going into the half leading 43-40.
UC's Josh Floyd gave Charleston 12 points in the first half, while Seth O'Neal totaled three assists. Devon Robinson helped the Golden Eagles defensively, as he snagged four rebounds. UC went 15-29 from the three-point line, and 4-13 from the three-point line. Charleston and Fairmont each rebounded the ball 14 times, and each totaled two turnovers in the first half.
The intensity between the two sides continued in the second half, as the game remained close throughout the duration. The lead changed back and forth as the half went on, but the Golden Eagles were not able to hang on to it, falling 85-77 to the Falcons from Fairmont State.
Fairmont State scored 45 points compared to Charleston's 34. The Golden Eagles went 1-9 from the three-point line, and totaled 17 total rebounds. UC led for 21.7% of the second half, and turned the ball over four times. The Golden Eagles scored four fast break points, and nine points off of the bench.
