MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. – The University of Charleston Golden Eagles (3-2) went 2-0 against Mercyhurst Universtiy (0-7) on Sunday afternoon. The Golden Eagles took a 6-1 victory to start the day, earning head coach her 200th career victory. In game two the Golden Eagles topped the Lakers 10-2.

HOW IT HAPPENED
GAME 1:
Carly Turner led the Golden Eagles in game one with two hits in three appearances, while Karli Pinkerton tallied one hit, one run, and one RBI in three appearances at the plate.
Freshman Pitcher, Carly Turner picked up her third win of the season in the 6-1 victory.
Gracie Donato, and Haleigh Christopher scored on a double by Kendall Marshall in the bottom of the second, to give the Golden Eagles the early 2-0 lead. An error by the Lakers' third basemen, allowed Amber Null to score for the 3-0 lead.
Later in the second inning, Karli Pinkerton scarificed to send Kendall Marshall home.
It would be the fifth inning before Charleston would get their offense going again. Pinkerton scored on a single from Brionna Bowman. The Golden Eagles sixth and final run of the game came from Brionna Bowman, who reached home on an error by the Lakers' center fielder.
Mercyhurst scored thier lone run in the top of the sixth inning with a tripple by Sarah Koscho to send Taylor Fry home.
GAME 2:
Junior pitcher Carly Lucas picked up her first win of the 2019 season as UC cruised to a 10-2 win after five innings in game two. Lucas pitched all five inning seeing 26 batters, retiring 15, and only one earned run.
Brionna Bowman went 2-for-3 from the plate with one RBI to lead the Golden Eagles effort. Kendall Marshall went 2-for-2 from the plate with 2 RBIs and one run scored in the win.
Charleston built themselves a comfortable 6-0 lead after two innings before a tripple from Emma LeGendre put the Lakers on the board in the top of the third inning.
Charleston scored four more runs in the bottom of the third to take their 10-1 lead.
LeGendre reached on an error in the top of the fifth pushing Ellie Dougher home, but it UC who would win 10-2.
