CHARLESTON, W.Va. – The University of Charleston Golden Eagles (4-3) went 1-1 against Kentucky State University (5-8) on Saturday afternoon. The Golden Eagles fell 1-6 to start the day, In game two the Golden Eagles topped the Thorobreds 6-5.

HOW IT HAPPENED
GAME 1:
Karli Pinkerton led the Golden Eagles with one hit on three at bats for the Golden Eagles in game one.
Freshman Pitcher, Carly Turner picked up the loss as the Thorobreds took the 6-1 victory.
KSU quickly went up 6-0 before UC scored their lone run in the bottom of the seventh inning.
Later in the second inning, Karli Pinkerton scarificed to send Kendall Marshall home.
Neither team brought any runs in in the first inning, but the Thorobreds jumped to a 3-0 lead in the top of the second. After bringing in three more runs in the third and fourth innings.
Down by six, Gracie Donato singled to center field bringing Carly Turner home for UC's only run of the game. KSU went on to win 6-1
GAME 2:
Freshman pitcher Leigh-Ann Jenkins took the win after pitching a complete game for the Golden Eagles. Jenkins faces 34 batters, striking out nine.
Kendall Marshall went 3-for-3 from the plate, while Haleigh Christopher and Carly Turner each notched two RBIs in the win.
KSU build a 5-0 lead after the top of the third inning, but UC's offense surged in the third inning scoring four runs to bring the Golden Eagles within a single run.
Haleigh Christopher's double in the bottom of the fifth brought in two runs to give UC the lead.
KSU was unable to score in the top of the seventh giving UC the 6-5 victory.

Charleston travels to Florida for the PFX tournament. They face Lock Haven University on Monday, March 11 at 3:45 p.m.
