How it Happened
In a tightly played first 10 minutes, Charleston saw themselves down early on but once they grabbed the lead they were able to hold on to it, never relinquishing the advantage over the final 37 minutes of the contest.  Despite holding the lead for all but three minutes, the Golden Eagles were unable to distance themselves from the hosts and held just a four-point lead heading into the break.

UC locked down on defense on the second half by limiting the Cavaliers to just 32% shooting from the floor over the final 20 minutes and 23 points.  Although Wise was struggling from the field, they still managed to claw their way to a three-point deficit, 56-53, with 8:39 to play in the contest.  The Golden Eagles weren't going to be denied their road win though, outscoring the Cavaliers 18 to six over the final eight plus minutes.  Charleston grabbed their biggest lead in the final seconds and closed out the Cavaliers with a 15-point win, 74-59.

The Golden Eagles forced 22 Cavalier turnovers, turning into 27 Charleston points on the other end.  UC also dominated points in the paint, outscoring the Cavs 40-26 as Anna Hayton and Dionna Sanders each turned big performances in the lane.  Sanders finished with a double-double (14 points, 10 rebounds).
