How it Happened
Sophomore forward, Lamont McManus led the Golden Eagles with 19 points and tallied two rebounds in the victory.

Devon Robinson put the Golden Eagles on the board first less than a minute in to the first half, but an 8-0 run for the Cavaliers put them up with an early 10-5 lead with just over 15 minutes to play in the half. Charleston stayed persistent, and tied the game up with a three-pointer by Adam Traore at the 7:55 mark.

The game would see four more lead changes in the final five minutes of the first half, with the two teams locked in a 36-36 tie at the break after Eric Okenchi knocked down three free throws in Wise's final possession.

McManus scored 12 of his 19 points in the first half, going 5-5 from the field while Drew Rackley and Adam Traore each contributed seven points. Devon Robinson who led with 11 rebounds in the contest brought down nine boards before the intermission. Eric Okenchi netted nine points to lead the Cavaliers along with the pair of Rahji Langford, and Cameron Whiteside who scored six points-a-piece.

The Golden Eagles jumped to a 44-36 lead to start the second half, outscoring the Cavaliers 8-0 in the opening minutes. Drew Rackley picked off a pass and scored in transition to give UC the 16-point advantage with 14 minutes to go.

Drew Rackley would finish with 14 points and three assists, and two steals in the Golden Eagles effort.  Senior guard Josh Floyd rounded out his final game at home with 13 points, three rebounds, and two assists.

Although they never gave up their lead as the minutes ticked away, the Golden Eagles felt the Cavs nipping at their heals as they brought the score within seven points in the final five minutes. A pair of baskets from Chance Sheffey in the final minute kept the Golden Eagles within reach, but it would not be enough as Charleston would knock down two free throws in the final 30 seconds to seal the 85-74 win.

The Golden Eagles had the edge from the field shooting 48 percent (28-for-58) while the Cavaliers shot just 40 percent (27-for-66). Charleston capitalized on the mistakes of the Cavs offense, scoring 13 points off of turnovers.
