CHARLESTON, W.Va. – The Golden Eagles dropped a pair of games on Saturday against the Concord University Mountain Lions, moving to 6-11 on the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
GAME 1:
The Golden Eagles struck first, punching in two runs in the top of the third, but a series of errors on J. Witt's single allowed three runs in for the Mountain Lions in the bottom of the third, giving CU the 3-2 lead.
Concord would tack on five more runs in the bottom of the third taking an 8-2 lead. Karli Pinkerton singled up the middle in the top of the fourth to bring UC within five runs.
Concord took a six-run lead on L. Thompson's single in the bottom of the fifth. The top of the seventh was big for the Golden Eagles as they scored three runs to get within two of Concord, but it would not be enough. The Golden Eagles fell in game one, 9-7.
Carly Turner took her fifth loss of the season, while Laura Thompson of Concord improved to 4-3 with the win.
GAME 2:
Just as in game one, Charleston took 3-0 lead in the top of the fourth, starting with a single from Haleigh Christopher that sent Karli Pinkerton home. Janey Schmidt and Carly Turner each scored in the inning.
The bottom of the fourth was pivotal for the Mountain Lions, as the offense scored nine runs taking a 9-3 lead.
Christopher hit a homerun to left field in the top of the sixth making the score 9-4, and Brionna Bowman's double to right field sent Turner home to put UC within four runs in the top of the seventh, but UC fell to Concord in game two 9-5.
NEXT UP
The Golden Eagles travel to Philppi on Wednesday to take on the Battlers of Alderson Braoddus. First pitch is set for 4:00 p.m.
