PHILIPPI, W.Va. – The Golden Eagles (8-11) snagged a pair of victories against the Alderson Broaddus Battlers (3-16) in non-conference action on Wednesday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED
GAME 1:
Neither team got the offense rolling in the first inning, but the Golden Eagles tacked on their first run in the top of the second as Kendall Marshall was walked with the bases loaded to bring the score to 1-0.
 
With AJ Martin on first, Miles doubled to center field, Martin used her speed to get her from for the 2-0 lead for UC.
 
The Golden Eagles had a big sixth inning five runs taking advantage of Battler fielding errors to take the 7-0 victory in game one.
 
Turner moves to .500 on the year picking up her fifth victory after pitching all seven innings.
 
GAME 2:
The Golden Eagles struck early in the top of the first, with Karli Pinkerton scoring on a single up the middle from Carly Turner. In the top of the second, Junior Destinee Miles showed her speed, stealing second before heading home on a single from Sarah Barrett giving UC the 2-0 lead. Turner drove the third run home in the top of the second on a single to right field, giving Barrett the go-ahead for the 3-0 lead.
 
Brianna Burger got the Battlers on the board on a single by Marybeth Strickler.
 
In the top of the third with runners on second and third, Alex Thomas doubled to right center scoring Miles and AJ Martin for the 5-1 lead. The Golden Eagles tacked on two more runs in the third on a triple from Pinkerton that would send Barrett and Thomas home.
 
Amber Bumbaugh stole home for AB in the bottom of the third cutting the UC lead to five runs.
 
Miles singled to center field sending Camille Manzo home for UC's final run of the game. The Battlers would score one more time in the bottom of the fourth sealing the 8-3 win for the Golden Eagles.
 
Carly Lucas picked up her second win of the season, pitching all seven Innings tallying six strikeouts.

The Golden Eagles will host their first game at UC Softball field of the 2019 season as they take on the West Liberty Hilltoppers on Saturday. The doubleheader is set to begin a 2:00 p.m.
