Golden Eagles Tame the Lions to Win 3-1

CHARLESTON, W.VA. –The Golden Eagles picked up a win over Emmanuel College on Friday night, defeating the Lions 3-1.

How It Happened

The Golden Eagles came out to win in the first set of play, defeating the visiting Lions 25-12, and going up 1-0. Charleston's Adriel Roberts, Brandon Greenway, and Max Senica each gave UC two kills in the first set, helping the Golden Eagles to outwork the visitors. Charleston's Deigo Villafane helped the momentum with eight assists, and Adriel Roberts shutdown their offense with four block assists.
 
Set two was a similar story, as the Golden Eagles were able to use their offensive skill to work past Emmanuel, winning the set 25-21, and leading over the visitors 2-0. Both teams were able to score 13 kills, however, the Lions totaled six errors compared to UC's three. UC blocked three attack attempts and went .400 on hitting percentage.
 
The visiting Lions came to play in the third set, as they led over Charleston, winning the set 18-25. Emmanuel had 10 kills compared to UC's seven, and the Golden Eagles totaled eight attack errors. 
 
The fourth set of play was tight between the two sides, with both teams wanting to snag the set. Charleston was able to find a rhythm in the middle of the set, working defensively to break down the Lion's offense. UC won the set, 26-24, winning the match 3-1.

The Golden Eagles will host Emmanuel College on Saturday, March 9th, with first serve set for 4:00 p.m.
