CHARLESTON, W.Va. – The Golden Eagles (20-17, 11-9 MEC) pick up another split with cross-town rivals, West Virginia State (21-10, 14-6 MEC) on Wednesday night.

HOW IT HAPPENED
GAME 1:
Carly Turner moves to 11-8 on the season after six innings. The freshman gave up 3 runs, but tallied nine strikeouts in the loss.
Emma Ruth led the effort for the Yellow Jackets as she tallied two RBI on her homer to left field in the bottom of the second to give WVSU the 2-0 edge.
Haleigh Christopher gave UC some life with home run number 38 on the season to bring the score to 2-1.
Four other Yellow Jackets tallied hits in game on, but Ruth's double in the bottom of the sixth sealed the victory for State sending Paige Scruggs home for the 3-1 lead.
Emilee Walker (5-1) picked up the victory after seven innings and only allowing a pair of hits against the Golden Eagles.
GAME 2:
Carly Lucas picked up win number six after retiring 19 of 26 batters as the Golden Eagles took the victory in game two.
Karli Pinkerton scored in the top of the first on a sacrifice from Christopher to take the early 1-0 lead over the Yellow Jackets. State evened the score in the bottom of the second on Emily Moore's single as the pitcher went 1-for-3 from the plate, tallying the lone RBI for the Yellow Jackets.
With the score tied in the top of the fourth, and Pinkerton on second, second basemen, Kendall Marshall hit her first collegiate homerun to take the 3-1 lead over WVSU.
Emily Moore took the loss, giving up six hits, and striking out one batter in the effort.

Charleston will host the Salem University Tigers on Thursday, April 11. First pitch is set for 2:00 p.m.
