CHARLESTON, W.Va. – The Golden Eagles swept the Glenville State Pioneers in MEC South Action on Thursday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
GAME 1:
Destinee Miles led off with a triple to left center just before Kendall Marshall sent her home for the 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first.
During the next at bat, Haleigh Christopher hit homerun number 15 of the season to give UC the 2-0 lead.
By the end of the fourth inning the Golden Eagles held a 6-0 lead over the Pioneers.
Heavner singled to center field in the top of the sixth knocking in two runs to bring the final score to 6-2 in favor of Charleston.
Kendall Marshall and Bailey Gogia each tallied a hit in the win, and led with two RBI a piece.
Carly Turner picked up her sixteenth win of the year, with the complete game victory. The freshman allowed just four hits, after striking out seven batters.
GAME 2:
Bailey Gogia opened up the scoring for the Golden Eagles with a two-RBI homer in the bottom of the second to give you the 2-0 advantage. Charleston knocked in eight more runs in the bottom of the second, extending their lead to 9-0.
However, in the top of the fourth the Pioneers offense surged. The Golden Eagles allowed four runs to score in the top of the fourth bringing the Pioneers within five runs.
Down four in the top of the seventh Naylor hit a home run to center field, before Glenville plated their final run of the game, giving UC the 9-6 victory and sweep of the series.
Gogia led UC offensively with two hits, two runs, and four RBI on four attempts.
Carly Lucas moved to 9-6 on the season after pitching all 7.0 innings.
