CHARLESTON, W.Va. – The University of Charleston Golden Eagles picked up a split with the Fairmont State Fighting Falcons on Sunday in the final regular season weekend of MEC play.

HOW IT HAPPENED
GAME 1:
Haleigh Christopher led the Golden Ealges' offense. The junior catcher went 1-for-3 from the plate, hitting her record breaking 16 home runs, tallying two RBI for UC. Karli Pinkerton contributed an additional hit for Charleston in the loss.
Christopher hit her homer in the top of the first to give Charleston the early 2-0 lead, but it was Katlynn Foltz who brought life to the Falcons with a 2 RBI homer to tie the game up.
Fairmont State took the 3-2 lead in the bottom of the third on a double from Kadi Cosgrove.
The Falcons then sealed the victory in the bottom of the fifth as Cosgrove scored on a double from Courtney Worchester.
Carly Turner moved to 18-9 on the season after allowing four runs on eight hits, pitching all 6.0 innings.
GAME 2:
It was the bat of Bailey Gogia that got the ball rolling for the Golden Eagles in game two. With Kendall Marshall on second, Gogia doubled scoring Marshall for the 1-0 lead.
Brionna Bowman went 1-for-3 in game two, extending the UC lead in the top of the sixth inning to 2-0 with her RBI single to left center that scored Destinee Miles.
Down 2-0 in the bottom of the sixth, Cosgrove flew out to left field, as Carly Clarke tagged up and scored the lone run for the Falcons.
Carly Turner moved to 11-7 on the season, allowing just one run while notching five strikeouts.

The Golden Eagles will be heading to the MEC Tournament beginning on Friday May 3, in Salem, Va.
