CHARLESTON, W.Va. – The University of Charleston Golden Eagles defeated the Shepherd University Rams on day one of the Mountain East Conference Softball Tournament.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Carly Turner picked up her 19
th win of the season on the opening day of Mountain East Tournament action. The Freshman pitched a complete game shutout, tallying seven strikeouts, only allowing four hits.
Turner and Christopher led the Golden Eagles offense each tallying a pair of hits, two RBI with Turner scoring for UC.
Turner got the scoring started for the Golden Eagles, hitting a double to left center that gave First Team All-MEC outfielder, Destinee Miles the go ahead. With Turner on second, Christopher singled to right center scoring miles for the 2-0 lead in the top of the third.
In the top of the seventh, Miles scored again on a single from Turner before a pair of runs scored on a single by Christopher to give Charleston the 5-0 victory.

The Golden Eagles will take on the West Virginia State Yellow Jackets on Saturday morning. First pitch is set for 8:00 a.m.
