CHARLESTON, W.Va. – The University of Charleston Golden Eagles defeated the Shepherd University Rams on day one of the Mountain East Conference Softball Tournament.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Carly Turner picked up her 19^th win of the season on the opening day of Mountain East Tournament action. The Freshman pitched a complete game shutout, tallying seven strikeouts, only allowing four hits.
 
Turner and Christopher led the Golden Eagles offense each tallying a pair of hits, two RBI with Turner scoring for UC.
 
Turner got the scoring started for the Golden Eagles, hitting a double to left center that gave First Team All-MEC outfielder, Destinee Miles the go ahead. With Turner on second, Christopher singled to right center scoring miles for the 2-0 lead in the top of the third.
 
In the top of the seventh, Miles scored again on a single from Turner before a pair of runs scored on a single by Christopher to give Charleston the 5-0 victory.
